Meaghan and Stephen - A Spring Sunset Inspired Wedding at The Edgewater Hotel

Married April 12, 2024

Meaghan and Stephen were married at The Edgwater Hotel in Seattle on April 12, 2024. Meaghan originally reached out to me to help them with the design and management of their wedding day. She wanted help bringing her ideas to life in the best way possible while showing their guests the city they live in and love.
Their design idea?

A cotton candy sunset.

Yes, please!

We started working on their initial mood boards and I quickly learned that Meaghan not only loved the pinks, coral and blues involved in the dreamy sunsets, but that she was into celestial designs as well. Crystals, constellations and other “witchy things” as they called it were big to them.

When looking at flowers and their design, to keep the varying melding of colors for the sunset theme, we decided to have a different napkin for each long row of tables. There was a gorgeous, yet subtle, ombre effect across the room, which was amazing. The couple made their own personalized menus for each guest that was inserted into a pocket fold napkin.

We enlisted the help of the Edgewater team to see how we can best bring forth their vision of having long tables for the reception, while moving the dance floor to the side of the room as opposed to the center of the room, where it is usually placed. The result was a fun atmosphere of colorful long tables where guests could sit and watch the dancing unfold across the room. They could be involved in the center of the party or stay on the sidelines, whatever the preference was.

For the ceremony, Meaghan opted to not have a bouquet herself. She wanted their wedding party to carry different herbs and flowers signifying different values they were helping to bring to their marriage: health, protection, happiness, etc. During the ceremony, each person brought a little bit of their bouquet to Meaghan, who then walked out with the larger mixed bouquet.

They had a lovely cutting cake along with assorted desserts followed by a late night snack from Dick’s Drive In to show their out of town guests another Seattle icon. Before their photographer left, they made sure to have photos taken from the Beatle’s suite with fishing poles to mimic the famous Beatle photo from their Seattle visit in 1964.

Overall, their wedding was filled with symbolism, love and was deeply personal to the two of them, which is one of my favorite things to see in weddings.
